Check out their NYC parties on Sat, April 3rd in NY or Mon, April 5th in NY) where they posted a music video for the song "LESS LOVE" and well, I got a Rock n' Roll hard-on!
Silvia Superstar is foxy, Rock n' Roll, Spanish, and a sexy accent when she sings in English...Watch the video for yourself. DOWNLOAD THE SONG "Less Love" here for FREE!

"Pinche Pompadours" DJ mix - 50's/60's Rock n' Roll & Rockabilly for grabs!!
In college I had a jazz radio show called "Cat Jazz" where I was able to explore the world of Jazz from around the world. I realized that Jazz was in a lot of different styles of music in different forms and languages from Japanese, Spanish, French, English, etc. I was obsessed / in LOVE with it and still am today!
In celebration of Spring and the fact that I wanted to share more happiness with ya'll I've created a very special DJ mix called "Pinche Pompadours" - 50's/60's Rock n' Roll & Rockabilly in Spanish and English. The artwork is by the talented Joshua De Leon from California. (Very special thanks to Joshua and Rogelio Jr).
I'm sure this mix will have you snapping your fingers and maybe even shakin' your culo while making scrambled huevos in the morning! Enjoy chavitos!! XOXO

Sunsplash / Fiera de Vinil (ex Todosantos) - official Release!
Needless to say I'm a fan of former Todosantos singer Alberto's new project SUNSPLASH!! The official release is finally out titled "Fiera De Vinil"
Sunsplash / Fiera de Vinil.
"South American group Sunsplash make their DJs Are Not Rockstars debut here, with a set of upbeat tracks that are hard to label. Think "indie
pop meets baile funk," and I mean that in a good way. Check out "Fiera De Vinil" if you don't believe me. That song is just begging for a
remix by Bonde Do Role, and that's just what we get. The group adds their own vocals, refreak the samples and add some booty shaking bass
to the track. DJ Spin Laden (yeah, I can't believe that name either) also remixes the track, turning it into an electro track with a decent helping of Cumbia flavor, while Pharoah turns it into a 4am warehouse shaker. Four tracks total" Check em' out on myspace or listen to some tracks on soundcloud.com

Fri, March 19th w/ Something In Spanish (live) @ Coco66!
A word from Something In Spanish: "We have, in our worship, discovered the benefits of music. Now we even ask all our inductees to serenade their co-inductees, at least once a month. I have decided to share the beauty of his teachings with a musical group, along with my prized pupil Olga. We periodically perform live seances in the name of Something in Spanish. As the factories' orders grow, we are able to concentrate on spreading the message. We offer a few positions ideal for a prepared and elevated person. Our mission is to heal and nurture all." -Santos

Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway
The Runaways, one of our most highly anticipated movies will finally debut in theaters on March 19th. We’ve been waiting a very long time to see seems to be two great actresses bringing to life two amazing performers: Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett and Dakota Fanning as Cherie Currie.
Buy the book at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Borders or an Independent Bookseller.
Click here to read a preview of the first two chapters.
About Neon Angel: A Memoir of a Runaway by Cherie Currie
Cherie Currie, with her signature Bowie haircut and fishnet stockings, was the groundbreaking lead singer of ’70s teenage all-girl rock band the Runaways. At the tender age of fifteen, she joined a group of talented girls—Joan Jett and Lita Ford on guitar, Jackie Fox on bass, and Sandy West on drums—who could play rock like no one else.
Arriving on the Los Angeles music scene in 1975, they catapulted from playing small clubs to selling out major stadiums, headlining shows with opening acts like the Ramones, Van Halen, Cheap Trick, and Blondie. Currie lit up the stage with the provocative teen-rebellion songs “Cherry Bomb,” “Queens of Noise,” and “Born to Be Bad,” riding a wave of hit songs and platinum albums, all while touring around the world.
On the face of it, Currie’s is a riveting story of girl empowerment and fame. But it is also an intensely personal account of her struggles with drugs, sexual abuse, and violence. She and her bandmates, runaways all, were thrown into a decadent, high-pressure music scene where on the road, unsupervised for months at a time, they had to grow up fast and experience things that no teenage girls should. Neon Angel exposes the side of the music industry fans never get to see, and chronicles the group’s rise to fame and their ultimate demise.
Shocking and inspiring, funny and touching, Neon Angel stunningly re-creates a bygone era of rock and roll, all the while providing an inside look at growing up hard under the relentless glare of the public eye, and chronicling one tough woman’s fight to reclaim her life.
About The Runaways
The Runaways is based on lead-singer Cherie Currie’s book ‘Neon Angel’ – a reflection of her experiences as a rock star, but also delivering a strong anti-drug warning to teens and others. David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” serves as a metaphor for the narrative– a slow countdown, a surreal but spectacular rise to fame, then alienation and burnout – a long long way from home.
The movie chronicles THE RUNAWAYS from 1975 – 1977; formed by teenage girls living near Hollywood, CA., and heavily manipulated by their manager Kim Fowley as ‘jailbait rock’ (all the girls were 16 or younger when the band recorded their first album). The band ultimately succeeds on their own merits as musicians, becoming the first all-girl rock-band to ever break into the world of arena-filling hard rock acts.
The movie focuses on the band’s formation, and their meteoric rise to fame. Their first single, ‘Cherry Bomb’, gets some attention in the United States, where THE RUNAWAYS’ U.S. tour hits major venues (Cobo Hall, with RUSH) and sleazy rock-clubs, often pairing them up with The Ramones, Cheap Trick, Tom Petty, and other popular 1970’s rock acts. But ‘Cherry Bomb’ and several other songs from THE RUNAWAYS’ first 2 albums become huge hits in Japan — and their arrival for a set of shows there in 1977 is like Beatle-Mania. The band is overwhelmed by the Japanese reception. Almost prophetic, THE RUNAWAYS’ last big hit song in Japan is ‘Neon Angels On The Road To Ruin’.
Cherie is initially thrilled to be in the band, and lives the rock star life. She pushes the edge — and their records sell well, generating lots of media controversy and hype. But during the tour of Japan, her personal life disintegrates, and she burns out — ultimately leaving The Runaways when they return to the U.S. The bass player (Jackie Fox) quits too, leaving only Lita Ford, Joan Jett and Sandy West. Joan Jett has decided that rock & roll is her life, and that The Runaways is her ‘family’; she is upset by Cherie’s decision to leave, but knows that decision is best — for Cherie.
THE RUNAWAYS’ success was earth-shaking in rock music — changing the rules forever. But with the successful 5-girl lineup no longer intact after the Japan tour, their future was dubious, at best. Lita Ford (guitar) and Sandy West (drums) still think the band can make it big again, so they persevere with Joan Jett.

In celebration of March 19th with the Something In Spanish show I was inspired to create a little ditty very different from mixes I've created before. It's a semi-multilingual-eclectic-italo-weirdo mini mix that was a pain in my friggin' culo to cut down to just 10 SONGS!
I tried not to make it too strange or annoying, just fun and hopefully enjoyable. (the music is sung in German, English, and Spanish)...Intenté no hacerla demasiado extraña ni molesta, pero agradable. (la música se canta en alemán, inglés, y español)…
p.s. there is ONLY one song that is prolly a bit on the more mainstream :: Blind - Hercules & Love Affair, I love it and it fit perfectly...you'll see. p.d. Hay SOLAMENTE una canción que es un pedacito en la más corriente principal :: Blind - Hercules & Love Affair, a mi me encanta y se quedo bien con las otras canciónes.

WOW! Taiwan you are my reason to dance today...GO CHIC!
I'm already a fan of asian groups like Shonen Knife, Melt Banana, The Boredoms, Pizzacato Five, Cibo Matto, and Kiiii, so it makes me happy to add a new group to the ever growing list of love!
GO CHIC is a dance/pop/punk/electro group which started in Taipei around 2007, current members are Sonia Lai (賴思勻), Ariel Zheng (鄭思齊), Sarah Wen (溫一珊). The band hit the scene with brightly colored tights and short shorts, laughing and joking with the crowd as they pumped out raw, catchy, dance-electro. Since then, GO CHIC has gained a male drummer-Winston Li (李昀璁), and graduated to silver tutus and a coveted place as one of Nike’s 10 top Taiwanese bands for the company’s NIKE SPORTSWEAR NIGHT PARTY. They've played with such notable acts as Vicarious Bliss(Ed Banger FR), Dandi Wind(CA), Shitdisco(Dim Mak UK), Death Is Not My Aim(JP), etc.
GO CHIC are gonna be at SXSW this year so please somebody check them out for me please!!??? March 20th - Spill @ SXSW Festival, Austin, Texas. BTW, their moto is "FUCK SAD SONGS AND SLOW JAMS, THIS IS GO CHIC!!!!!" THey sound like: Peaches, CSS, Le Tigre, The Teenagers(girl version!), Le Corps Mince De Françoise and supposedly have amazing stage performances like The Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
I think I'm a fan of the song Hardate (listen to the music video below) w/ the lyrics talking about a twisted female DJ who's just crazy fun!! Hmm, I'm diggin' GO CHIC. Their debut album "I am Confused" is independently released in March 2010 and is currently looking for a label! Friend them on Facebook.

The Welcome Dynasty...rock n' roll in the bathroom stall!
I keep listening and I'm totally digging the actual song called "Markus" and I'm wondering where are they from? England, America, Sweden, Norway, etc...NOPE! These dudes are from VALENCIA, SPAIN (Where my last name comes from "MENESES").
I hold a lot of AMOR for Spain for many reasons and three of them just so happen to be that 1. I'm part Spanish (mi papa era de España y Mejico) 2. Spaniards know how to party 3. Spaniards know how to rock n' roll all night long...wait, is that just two different ways of saying "they like to party?" Ya, and I thank my mami and my papi for making me part of the Spanish Dolls!!! Gracias Karina y Guillermo Meneses <3
I recommend taking some time to listen to following songs on their Myspace page: Markus, Christine, and Streets Of London.

DJ-phone instead of headphones?? I want!!
the team at hulger recently teamed up with the female DJ duo broken hearts to develop two-tone phone designed for mixing records. the phone plugs directly into the mixing unit and comes in two black and white colour combos. when the user isn’t spinning records at the club, they can plug the handset into their mobile and use it like other hulger phones or even use it on their PC. the handset is manufactured by hulger and designed with a chunky retro form that recalls the analog telephones of the 1950’s.

I have Google Alert tracking anything that's related to Nacotheque, Nacoteque, Marcelo Cunning, and Amylulita.
