Torreblanca is fronted by Mexico DF singer-songwriter and talented pianist Juan Manuel Torreblanca, who earlier this year released a remarkable debut EP titled Defensa, in which Natalia Lafourcade and the girl from Hello Seahorse! who looks like Lisa Loeb (aka Denise “Lo Blondo”) had guest appearances.

Chavita hard-on for Silvia Superstar's "Less Love" (Killer Barbies)!

I was personally introduced to Silvia Superstar back in 2004 via Alaska at a Rock n' Roll party in Madrid (please note that at the time I had NO IDEA who either person was yet!! All I said to Alaska was "Hola, me gusta tu pelo", jajaja). Alaska introduced her as the singer for the Spanish punk band The Killer Barbies who recently toured w/ Lunachicks. She was super hot, very friendly, and definitely in love w/ New York City.

I hadn't heard about Killer Barbies nor Silvia Superstar for years until this evening when I was scrolling through a new party coming to NY called NASTY MONDAYS (originally from Barcelona. Check out their NYC parties on Sat, April 3rd in NY or Mon, April 5th in NY) where they posted a music video for the song "LESS LOVE" and well, I got a Rock n' Roll hard-on!

I bought my first NOSSA compilation back in 2006 at a botuique in the Lower East Side and totally fell in love w/ baile funk beats. The track called "Ai Você Gosta" by Zuzuka Poderoza (previously known as AZU), seriously struck a sweet spot and to this day I still play it at Nacotheque parties.



Nacotheque had the privilege to party with Dj Sujinho at a special party we hosted during LAMC '07 and then a couple years later Zuzuka Poderoza performed live at Nacotheque. Needless to say I was very happy!



Because of this discovery I began my adventure in finding more baile funk and came upon groups like Bonde Do Role, Todosantos, Bonde James Bonde, Bonde Da Pedale, Madame Mim, Plastic Caramelo, IsaGT, Edu K, and many more. Thank you NOSSA for opening my heart to more musica!
